Establishing the Digital Foundation: As-Built Engineering Documentation for the client

Industry: Oil & Gas / Infrastructure
Location: Alberta and British Columbia, Canada
Scope: As-Built Engineering Documentation across 13 Pumpstations

The Challenge

For regulated pipeline infrastructure, accurate engineering documentation is critical – not only for operational efficiency, but for safety, compliance, and risk management. The client required a complete reconciliation of engineering records across multiple pumpstation facilities to ensure drawings accurately reflected real-world conditions.

Over time, construction changes, field modifications, and revisions had resulted in:

· Discrepancies between drawings and field conditions

· Inconsistent documentation across disciplines

· Increased risk during maintenance, inspections, and audits

To meet compliance requirements and support safe operations, these documents needed to be as-built, validated, and aligned.

The Scope

Prozus was engaged to as-build engineering documentation across 13 pumpstation facilities, covering a large and complex document set.

Project scale included:

· 18,000+ drawings reviewed and reconciled

· 13 pumpstations

· Multiple disciplines and document types

Key deliverables included:

· As-built P&IDs

· Updated layout and general arrangement drawings

· Reconciled line lists

· As-built cable schedules and electrical documentation

Each document was reviewed against available IFCs, redlines, and reference material to ensure accuracy, consistency, and traceability.

The Outcome

The result was a trusted, compliant as-built documentation baseline that the client could rely on for:

· Safe operations and maintenance

· Regulatory and audit readiness

· Reduced operational risk

· Improved confidence across engineering and field teams

This consolidated documentation became the single source of truth for pumpstation facilities.

· 18,000+ drawings reviewed and reconciled

· 13 pumpstations aligned to verified as-built conditions

· Improved confidence across engineering, field, and operations teams

· A consistent documentation baseline ready for digital use

Laying the Groundwork for 3D Modeling

This effort became the critical foundation for the client’s intelligent 3D modeling program. With trusted as-built data in place, Prozus successfully delivered field-ready 3D models now used in operations across multiple pumpstations.
